Capital Digestive Care Welcomes Dr. Sarit Kipnis

Capital Digestive Care is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Sarit Kipnis to our Rockville, MD office.

Growing up with both parents in healthcare, Dr. Kipnis always had an interest in becoming a doctor. This interest prompted her to volunteer as an ambulance medic abroad, which is where she first experienced the excitement of acute medical care. As an undergraduate student, she strengthened her interest in medicine while working in a research lab investigating chronic esophageal disease. Throughout her training, Dr. Kipnis has been inspired by the strong connections physicians build with their patients while navigating the complexities of the GI tract.

Today, Dr. Kipnis is a board-certified , fellowship-trained gastroenterologist. For Dr. Kipnis, it’s a privilege to be able to take care of patients during vulnerable moments and make tangible improvements in both their physical well-being and quality of life. She has particular interest in the following conditions and procedures:

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  • Celiac disease
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  • Liver disease
  • Barrett’s esophagus
  • Gastrointestinal cancer screening

Dr. Kipnis is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but she has spent most of her adult life living on the East Coast. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Kipnis earned her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She then completed her internship and residency training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.

“My approach to patient care is based on effective communication between the patient and me, as well as individualized treatment plans rooted in evidence-based medicine,” she said.

Before joining Capital Digestive Care, Dr. Kipnis was a gastroenterology fellow at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. She is also an active researcher who publishes articles in peer-reviewed publications and presents her findings at national meetings.
