Biography
Nikki Reyes became interested in the physician assistant (PA) field while she worked in cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she enrolled cancer patients in urology and breast cancer studies. Most of her time was spent with patients at the worst time in their lives. She followed them along their cancer journey from beginning to end. Sharing tears and laughter with these individuals, Nikki became interested in pursuing a role involved in direct patient care. She was inspired by the amazing PAs she encountered at MD Anderson, and she knew that she had found her place in the medical field.
Today, Nikki is a certified PA who has been in practice since 2008. Deeply passionate about patient care, she takes a collaborative approach to caring for her patients. She provides general gastroenterology (GI) care with an interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Nikki earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Houston, followed by a master’s in the physician assistant program at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. Before joining Capital Digestive Care, Nikki worked as a PA focusing on urologic oncology at Urology Associates of Virginia. She began her career as a research coordinator at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
“I want to make a difference in people’s lives and let them know that I care about what happens to them,” Nikki said. “Every person who walks through the door is important and deserves the highest quality medical care.”
She is married and lives in Chesapeake, VA with a fur family that includes three dogs and three cats. Her first love was ballet. Today, she enjoys baking, growing vegetables, antiquing, watching foreign murder mysteries, checking out cooking and travel shows, and spending time with family.
