Biography
Dr. Frank Taylor Wootton III is a board-certified, fellowship-trained gastroenterologist. He specializes in the treatment and management of general gastroenterology conditions. His practice is centered around the idea that every patient is unique and deserves a personalized treatment plan built just for them.
He has particular interest in the following conditions and treatments:
- Colon cancer prevention
- GERD management
- 24-hr pH testing
- Hemorrhoid banding
Dr. Wootton earned his undergraduate degree from Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, VA, followed by medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. He completed his residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he served as chief resident in his final year. He went on to pursue fellowship training in gastroenterology at the Medical University of South Carolina, with an additional fellowship year in therapeutic endoscopy.
He is active in the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), having served as a governing board member and former chairman of the AGA PAC. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Wootton continues to train the next generation of physicians as an associate professor of clinical internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
