Capital Digestive Care is pleased to announce the addition of Lindsey Weiss, DNP, CRNP, NP-C, to our Chevy Chase and National Harbor, Md. offices.
Lindsey’s decision to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner stems from her own experience as a lifelong patient. From a young age, she understood the ways in which her life was positively impacted by the excellent care and trusting relationship she had with her medical team. She recognized the unique privilege that providers have in being able to develop relationships with their patients over time and provide care during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
Today, Lindsey is a board-certified nurse practitioner who holds a doctor of nursing practice degree and specializes in gastroenterology (GI). She has a special interest in caring for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as well as general GI conditions.
Lindsey earned a bachelor’s degree in public health and Latin American studies from Brandeis University. She went on to complete a master’s degree and became an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School – Graduate School of Nursing before earning a doctor of nursing practice degree from the same institution.
“My approach to patient care is empathetic, collaborative, and evidence based,” Lindsey said. “I believe that the patient’s goals should always be included in the conversation.”
Lindsey completed a nurse practitioner fellowship in the Johns Hopkins Division of Gastroenterology at Sibley Memorial Hospital to gain additional training in the GI field, particularly in inflammatory bowel disease. She then continued on to work as a gastroenterology nurse practitioner at Johns Hopkins Sibley Memorial Hospital for another three years before making the transition to Capital Digestive Care.
As a native Floridian, Lindsey enjoys spending time outdoors and likes to explore hiking trails around the DMV area. She also enjoys live music and traveling.
